A dinner - Worth driving 100 plus miles and two and half hour on the road

A random conversation resulted in an impromptu dinner get together on a cold Tuesday night. A short notice but 5 women drove over an hour to a new restaurant in the town. No pre planning, no scheduling with kids and husband for days, just a group text and the plan was made. The dark cold night,  narrow roads because of tons and tons of snow and office hour traffic didn’t stop 5 crazy women from dressing up to hangout together.

It all started with a random conversation , a day off tomorrow she said and a panjabi dinner night in that restaurant I have been meaning to try came to mind and the plan was in motion. Posted in my village and there were these 3 another ladies ready to jump on the wagon. Ah - the beauty of a well rounded village- there is always someone to support your crazy ideas.

So 5 of us sat around a table devouring delish food but it was more than just a dinner. 20+ yrs of age gap , from 30s to 50s, between us, from a toddler to kids in mid 20s, from day care to grown, working kids, from leggings to sarees, we never felt out of topics and everyone had something to enrich someone else’s life. Conversation ranged from career, passion, kids to in laws, from our memories to hopes and our vision but more so the endless laughter and simple happiness that night.

The idea of a village takes its own shape and I marvel at its beauty. Imagine these ladies didn’t know each other a few months ago and were part of my world for different reasons but now they are a part of each other’s world making it brighter and happier.

Who belongs to your village? Do you have that safe space where you don’t worry about being judged and become you, the real you?

A Bhagalpuri silk to rock the new restaurant, A dear bother in law went shopping with me, helped me with selection very patiently.

Mr. Husband was very kind and patient with my pic this time. This itself is a compliment and made my evening even better.

You want to join us next time? :) Such a wonderful evening, the food, the drinks and more than anything the service will make us come back again.

I thought, Must try and so yes, in answer to your question, would love to join you all next time!! fondly, shailini
